STATUS: Planning
AREA: 645,000 Sq/m
ROOMS: 250
CLIENT: Nazareth Illit
ABOUT:
The plan is located on the northern slopes of the city of Upper Nazareth, in an open unconstructed area, in the seam between the existing neighborhood and the natural forest which surrounds it to the north and east. At the basis of the design vision stands the integration of an urban residential environment near the nature reserve, while creating a direct physical context, maintaining sustainable development, keeping nature values and maintaining the balance between the needs of a residential neighborhood and a nature reserve. The system of natural open spaces, the reserve and the groves, adjacent to the planned neighborhood, will serve the new and veteran residents alike. In terms of transportation, a main road is designed to connect the neighborhood to the city. The road is designed as a scenic road and connects on its eastern side to the Square of Youths which will consist an "entry gate" to the new neighborhood, where the Alon Station of the light train will be located, and connecting to Tzipory Street on its western side. The main street will incorporate observation and stopping points facing the scenery, an interface for open public areas and public building, a bicycle path and vertical passes to connect the hiking trails and the existing groves. The area of the suggested plan is at 645 dunam, offering 1385 residential units at a density of about 14 residential units per dunam. Integrated in the plan are open public areas which constitute the connecting thread between the existing neighborhood and the new one, and connecting them both to the nature reserve, public buildings and small commercial areas. The nature reserve on a significant area for maintaining nature, constitutes a part of the plan and its purpose is to protect the Iris Bismarckiana (Nazareth Irus) and the natural forest.
