CLIENT: Herzliya Municipality
ABOUT:
This project is our proposal for the Center of Tomorrow in Herzliya (central Israel). The Center of Tomorrow is a culture and innovation center for climate change in Herzliya, which presents a cultural, community and educational heart for the city's residents. The aim of the center is to establish a technological, business and research development infrastructure on climate issues and to be a beacon for innovation in the local, national and international arena when it comes to living in an urban environment under the challenges of climate. Among other things, the urban contribution of The Center of Tomorrow is expressed in the connection to the upcoming metro train to pass through Ben Gurion Street, thus enabling a wide and festive urban square from which you can get down to the station. Our planning ambition was to combine innovative and smart architectural elements as an expression of the spirit of the place. This includes a facade consisting of panels drawn from the world of biotechnology, a wooden pergola that incorporates smart blinds to regulate the light rays hitting the square, rainwater collection pools and a sunny atrium that allows the flow of natural air through the building as well as a green roof open to the public for climate experiments and advanced urban agriculture.
