ABOUT:

Weizmann Institute of Science is one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary basic research institutions in the natural and exact sciences. We consider Weizmann Insititute as a big green park that is located in a dense urban environment. It is the green lungs of Rehovot. This building consists a variety of uses, its main function is the research laboratories. On the ground floor, there are the coffee, auditorium, seminar rooms, technical room above animal rooms, and the administration offices. Levels 01-05 of research - laboratories, offices, support rooms, team meeting rooms, and the communal green rooms. The roof contains the big public restaurant, the event educational space, and the technical room. Sustainability - Green and healthy building. We have to develop the most advanced sustainable, environmental friendly, healthy, and smart building we can. We believe that buildings should be developed with people’s health and wellness at the center of the design. We take a holistic approach to health in the built environment addressing behavior, operations, and design. The green heart: In the middle of our building, there is 700m2 forest. A green heart. This heart will be visible from every part of the building and provide not only a beautiful and special experience but a real ecological machine that keeps the temperature in the building moderate and pleasant and also actively purifying the air using only air purifying plants. The green routing: From the ground floor to the green roof there is a series of green spaces that are linked vertically with stairs and ramps. This is a slow and special route. There is a combination of indoor and outdoor spaces. Double and single hight. These continuous place allow interaction between the researchers and staff on every level.
